Within the framework of establishing a sustainable Animal Identification and Registration (AIR) system, and at the request of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia, the CARD Foundation, under the Austrian Development Agency (ADA)-funded project “Establishment of a Sustainable Animal Identification and Registration System in Armenia,” project organized a capacity-building training for senior officials responsible for programme management within the Ministry.
The workshop, entitled “Leading Teams and People,” was held on 1–3 August 2025 at the Marriott Hotel in Tsaghkadzor. Organized by the CARD Foundation in collaboration with Matena International School of Leadership and Professional Development, the training aimed to strengthen the leadership, management, and teamwork competencies of the Ministry’s senior staff.
The workshop officially commenced on 2 August with opening remarks by Mr. Gevorg Papoyan, Minister of Economy of the Republic of Armenia, who emphasized the importance of investing in the professional development of public servants and enhancing leadership capacities to improve the effectiveness of public administration.
The substantive training sessions were delivered over two days by experienced facilitators. On 2 August, Ms. Lara Cholakyan led sessions on self-awareness in leadership, emotional intelligence, resilience, and psychological safety. Discussions focused on the influence of leaders’ self-awareness on team dynamics, as well as practical approaches to fostering a workplace culture built on trust, collaboration, and open communication.
On 3 August, Mr. Yuri Zachek delivered training on contemporary change management models, equipping participants with practical knowledge and methodologies for planning and implementing organizational change within public institutions. At the conclusion of the programme, participants were awarded certificates of completion.
The training represented an important investment in strengthening the institutional capacity and management effectiveness of the Ministry of Economy. The enhanced leadership and management competencies acquired through the programme are expected to contribute to the more effective implementation of the sustainable Animal Identification and Registration (AIR) system and to support the achievement of the project’s long-term objectives.
