The development of agriculture is an essential process that serves as a primary necessity for humanity, particularly emphasized by countries involved in EU policies. Therefore, it is imperative to acquire a profound understanding of the agricultural policymaking processes within EU countries. Additionally, the exchange of experiences between nations holds significant importance. From October 1st to 5th, 2023, the Austrian Development Agency, in collaboration with “AgrarMarket,” a state agency, extended an invitation to a three-day visit in Austria for the RA National Assembly Territorial Governance, Local Government, Agriculture, and Environmental Issues working group. The delegation was led by Vahe Ghalumyan, the chairman of the commission. The purpose of the visit was to enhance the awareness of senior officials and acquaint them with the requirements for implementing agricultural policies and understanding the institutional structure associated with it. During the visit, the following topics were explored: AgrarMarkt Austria (AMA) (payment agency, digitization of business processes) Animal numbering and registration system, laws, and regulations The role of small slaughterhouses in Austrian rural communities Control functions Cooperation with other related institutions Elements of the Integrated Management and Control System (IACS) and the significance of IT Payments based on area Agricultural markets, market monitoring, price monitoring, and reporting Regional visits included: Regional Veterinary Service of Lower Austria (advisory service, education, training, primary farm support) Structure of the regional veterinary service, roles, and responsibilities Veterinary control and food safety Registration of small slaughterhouses Veterinarians’ responsibilities in slaughter and meat cutting processes Agricultural school Education for youth and adults in agriculture and food technology topics, including training.
