The AIR project in Armenia benefits from the expertise and support of specialists from the Agrarmarkt Austria (AMA). These experts provide comprehensive backstopping services, ensuring the project’s effective implementation and sustainability. This collaboration encompasses a range of activities, including technical assistance, capacity building, and strategic guidance, aimed at enhancing the overall efficiency and functionality of Armenia’s AIR system. The AMA experts’ involvement is instrumental in addressing the challenges faced by the project and in facilitating the achievement of its objectives.
From April 29 to May 3, 2024 experts from the Austrian state agencies “Agrarmarkt” (AMA) and “AGES,” Ulrike Vorberg and Ruth Fischereder, visited Armenia. The visit, in partnership with the Ministry of Economy (MoE), aimed to assess the current state of the Animal Identification and Registration (AIR), veterinary, and slaughterhouse systems in the Republic of Armenia (RA) and identify gaps and challenges.
During the visit, the experts met with representatives from the RA Ministry of Economy, the “Center for Agricultural Services” SNCO, the RA Food Safety Inspection Body, and the CARD Foundation. They also engaged with private and public veterinary service providers, regional epidemiologists, livestock owners, and the architect of the ANIPAS system. Additionally, the experts conducted on-the-spot inspections and monitoring of the AIR system in the livestock farms.
On May 2, a workshop was held to present on-the-spot control (OTSC) and veterinary systems of Austria to the project stakeholders. The workshop was attended by RA Deputy Minister of Economy Tatevik Sargsyan, Deputy Head of the Yerevan Office of the Austrian Development Agency Nora Alanakyan, Director of the Center for Agricultural Services SNCO Garnik Hovhannisyan, Deputy Head of the RA Food Safety Inspection Body Sona Tsarukyan, CARD Foundation Director Gagik Sardaryan, and other representatives from the mentioned organizations.
The visit was organized within the framework of the Animal Identification and Registration project in the Republic of Armenia, which is funded by the RA Government and implemented by the CAS SNCO. The Austrian Development Agency provides financial and technical support for the project through the CARD Foundation.
